The Wheel weaves and the Wheel wills. The Season 3 finale of The Wheel of Time embodied that famous saying with every iota of its delivery. By the time the finale ended, Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski) had completed a great feat in the Aiel Waste, uniting the Aiel tribes as he is recognized as the Car’a’carn. But while the Dragon Reborn gains more power, uniting the Aielmen under his banner, many miles away, in the White Tower at Tar Valon, one of Rand’s allies loses her own power. The Red Ajah Elaida (Shohreh Aghdashloo) leads a coup which ousts Siuan Sanche (Sophie Okonedo) from the Amyrlin Seat, with Elaida executing her as well. It was a shocking character death that those versed in Robert Jordan‘s works would not have seen coming. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Rafe Judkins discussed Siuan’s death, and has explored how it might affect a potential fourth season.
